Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are you now focusing more on your book than financial planning?

It may seem like the book is all we focus on since it’s promoted a lot on social media. Going Rogue! started as a passion project. My goal in writing the book was to help as many women as possible get comfortable with their lifestyle, finances, and quality of life. Putting a book out into the world was a way to make a positive impact and help women around the globe transform their lives by applying the action steps in the book.

100% of the profits from the print book, eBook and audiobook are donated to non-profit organizations that benefit women. So, no, we aren’t solely focusing on the book. The Melissa Myers Group is a for-profit business providing personal financial planning services, investments, and insurance solutions. What the book has done, is create awareness about our services. It allows readers, or listeners, to get to know us before they schedule an appointment. We love serving clients in a one-to-one manner and will continue to do so!

Q: What do you do all day?

We help our clients feel good about their finances! Imagine living your ideal lifestyle because you have clarity on what’s most important in your life, you know where you stand with your finances, have guidance on the next steps to take, and a team to hold you accountable to implement the advice.

Inspiration. Motivation. Education. Activation.

Q: Melissa, do you like what you do?

Yes! I love being a financial planner. It is so much fun when we get to tell clients they can retire early, go part time and/or spend extra on things they value like travel, boats, cars and gifts.  I'm all about empowering others and feel blessed that I get to do so with clients, my team and our audiences.

Q: Do you work exclusively with women?

No, we work with guys too. Gender isn’t the deciding factor on who we choose to work with. We are interested in working with clients who want more out of the relationship than stock market performance or paying the lowest fees. If you want answers to your financial questions, are coachable and willing to take action, we welcome a conversation with you.

Q: Melissa, what’s the one thing that you attribute to your success?

Well, it's actually two things: a positive mindset and taking action.

Q: What is your account minimum?

Many firms require a minimum. Technically, ours is $1,000. However, the first step in working with us is not opening your investment account. Our process starts with a free 30-minute welcome call, followed by a paid Strategy Session, and from there, the paid Lifestyle Financial Planning Program™. We charge for advice, and while we aren’t the cheapest, we feel our fees for advice are on par with many other professional services providers. It is important to note that financial planning fees are separate from asset management fees. We believe you get the greatest benefit from planning first and implementing second.

Q: Why do you charge for advice?

Time is valuable. Yours and ours. When you pay, you pay attention and do the work.

Q: Can you help me?

We're glad you asked. Let’s find out. Use this link to have a conversation with us

Q: Can you work with us if we aren't in Michigan?

Yes. We have clients across the U.S.

Q: Are you a fiduciary?

Yes.

Q: What do you think about trusts?

We think trusts can serve a purpose and that it is best to discuss the details with an estate planning attorney. We can help you locate an attorney who specializes in estate planning and/or elder care planning in your state.
